Discover a scenic, family-friendly trail at Shubenacadie Wildlife Park where nature, education, and over 50 fascinating animal species await.

The Main Wildlife Trail at Shubenacadie Wildlife Park offers a scenic walk through the heart of the park, winding through a carefully designed 2-kilometre loop. This trail is fully wheelchair and stroller accessible, with level gravel pathways that make it easy for visitors of all ages and abilities to explore. It’s the ideal route for families, school groups, and casual nature lovers looking to enjoy the outdoors while getting up close to a wide variety of native and exotic animals. Most visitors spend around 1.5 to 2 hours leisurely exploring the trail, taking their time at each animal enclosure and reading the informative signs along the way.
Along the trail, guests have the chance to see over 50 different species of animals that call Nova Scotia home, as well as a few international residents. Iconic Canadian wildlife such as black bears, white-tailed deer, otters, cougars, lynx, and bobcats can be found in spacious, naturalistic enclosures. Each enclosure is thoughtfully arranged to offer animals comfort and space, while still giving visitors a great view.
One of the highlights of the trail is the opportunity to see animals you might not otherwise spot in the wild—either because they’re nocturnal, shy, or endangered. Interpretive signage throughout the trail adds depth to the experience by sharing fascinating facts about the animals’ behaviors, habitats, diets, and conservation status.
The trail itself winds through a beautifully wooded landscape, offering plenty of shade in the summer and stunning foliage in the fall. Benches are located throughout for resting, and picnic areas are available nearby if you’d like to purchase food from our seasonal food vendors or bring lunch or snacks. Whether you're a lifelong animal lover or simply looking for a peaceful walk in nature, the Main Wildlife Trail is the perfect place to connect with wildlife, learn something new, and make lasting memories with friends and family.
